Unit Progress

I have made some progress on the kitchen. I have built the shell of the two biggest base units (One is to be an island). I found it quite tricky to get them to stick together straight. I followed the guidelines of using elastic bands and lego to create a right angle to build them against, but found this did not work that well. I got better results from sticking together by hand and then using elastic bands. Might be that my bands are too small and thin.
I also started fitting together my Elf wine rack. I am so glad I purchased one of these! At £8 each at first I felt it was expensive but I think it will look amazing when complete. I have been applying the HI-gloss film to my cupboards and drawers too as you can see from the picture. My next step is to build my last base unit and the 3 wall units, then onto adding the plinths to the bottoms of the bases.

I hope to follow some of my other projects on here as well as adding a post or two on completed projects. Should have a good one to post just before Christmas!

Elf Miniatures kitchen arrived!

Just started my Elf miniatures EAZY kitchen kit. I have wanted one for my Fairbanks house for years. It is a difficult shaped kitchen with so many doors and no space for a corner unit so a custom kitchen was required. It also meant I could choose to have it exactly how I wanted including worktop colour, cupboard finish etc. The kit comes in many pieces and requires quite a bit of preparation before building.

In the picture are some of the accessories I ordered or have bought at fairs for the kitchen. The fridge and light are from Dollshouse Emporium. The first thing I have done with the kit is paint and sand all cupboards and drawers ready for covering in white HI-gloss film. My favourite things ordered are the Miele dishwasher and washing machine. The noises and lights are quite realistic and although they are toys, they are the best quality I have come across for a modern dolls house.
